Service Opportunities
central high school mentoring
We will be joining Central High School as we partner with students who need a listening ear and help with basic organization as they may feel overwhelmed. The emphasis is NOT on tutoring but on building a relationship and impacting their lives for the better. Mentors will meet with a student on a weekly basis during that student's lunch hour. Hillside is looking for people with a heart for mentoring. All that is required is a background check and short training which will be put on this summer.
christ haven
We are partnering with the staff and families at Christ Haven, a foster care organization in Keller, to do both relationship building and some minor "fix-it" projects around their facility. There will be volunteer opportunities available this summer starting with a project to paint a fence that surrounds their property, as well as taking on a specific week or two to hang out with the kids and have some fun!
single parent dinner
"One can say everything best over a meal." - George Eliot. For so many of the single parents in our community, the hectic ness of daily life makes meal time as a family difficult. We would like to begin hosting a dinner at the church once a month for single parents and their families. We hope for this to be an opportunity where they can come as a family and be served, allowing them time to refresh and enjoy each other.
sweat team
This is a group of people who have a heart for meeting the needs of individuals and families in our community in a tangible way. This group's focus is two-fold. The first is to take care of the physical needs that pile up on these families, such as, yard work and tree trimming, painting and staining, or repairing a roof, fence, deck, etc. The second is that by meeting the physical needs for those in our community, we are able to share the love of Christ with them in the process and open the door for salvation and discipleship.

caring hearts
The Hillside Children's Ministry is partnering with a local retirement home to provide an opportunity for individuals at Hillside to "adopt a resident". There are many people in this home that do not receive regular visits from any family or friends, and we desire to provide them with this care. Details are currently being worked out, but if you would have an interest in this, please e-mail Jan Whitfill at jwhitfill@yourhillside.com.
