Who Are These People?
Notes
- Read the following passage: Revelation 6:9-11; 7:13-14; 12:11; 14:12; 17:6; 18:26. Throughout the book we see saints suffering, enduring, and conquering. Who do you think these people are and what evidence shapes your view?
- What emotions surface in you when you hear the idea that the church may be present during tribulation? Where do you think those emotions come from (Scripture, tradition, cultural influence, personal comfort, etc.)?
- Why do you believe what you believe about the rapture? Can you trace your view back to specific passages you've personally studied or is it more of an inherited view that you've been taught?
- Pastor Pete mentioned that Revelation 4–19 is often skipped because we assume it doesn’t apply to us. If those chapters do apply to the church, how would that change how we read them?
- Read 1 Peter 4:17 where Peter says, “Judgment begins at the house of God.” How is it that God’s judgment can both purify his church and condemn the unrepentant world at the same time?
- Revelation shows a church that is purified, prepared, and presented as a bride. Where might God be refining your personal purity right now? Is there any area where you’ve grown spiritually comfortable or cold?
